Autumn Sky Hall is a 25+ year veteran of the folk scene in California and now the east coast who's entranced audiences for many generations since she began writing songs at 4 years old and playing shows at 15 years old.
An early vocal jazz major, she's a part of the California music Hall of Fame (with 7 wins for Artist of the Year, Best Songwriter and Best Indie,) and has played over 5,000 shows, many to crowds in the 10,000s and had listens in the 100,000s for releases online of her music over the years. She's graced the stage at The Sundance Film Festival, opened for Manchester Orchestra at Powerhouse Pub and for Heart at Bottlerock. At The Club Car, she's got a drink named after her for playing so often.
She's played Black Bear Americana Festival, Women Of Folk Festival, Pride in The Valley, New Cumberland Pride Picnic, Schuykill County Pride, NessFest, The West Shore Theater, The Upside, Susquehanna Folk Society, Bottlerock Napa, Sacramento Pride, Hotel Utah, The Napa Theater, The Blue Note, Crocker Art Museum, Davis Music Festival, San Francisco Music Festival, Napa Wine Festival, Ace of Spades over six times, Concerts in the Park over five times, Harlows over seven times, Chalk It Up! Art Fundraiser Festival seven times, TBD Fest, City of Trees Fest, The Sacramento Music Awards, Sacramento State University, Harlows, The Russ Room, Chalk It Up! and thousands of events, shows and open mics more since first starting.
Her approach to Folk, Indie and Americana makes the traditionally predictable genre shine with a new sheen all her own, reflecting the times we live in for a brand new generation of folks who, well, love folk and want to see themselves in it. Her lyrics (the most remarked upon thing in her arsenal,) comfortable crowd work on stage and emotional vulnerability are the cherry on top of a sundae already reflecting the musical foundational styles of her go to favorites (Bruce Springsteen, Dolly Parton, Patty Griffin, Tom Petty, Emmylou Harris, Cat Stevens and Lucinda Williams) as well as modern heavy hitters (Brandi Carlisle, Sierra Farrell, Alison Ponthier, Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, Cat Power, Kacey Musgraves, Tre Burt, Leigh Graham Nash, Rainbow Girls and Allison Russell) she's a fan of.
Her latest releases are being considered as her best work by far, working together with the decades of talented people she's met along the way. She released "I Woke Up," a decades long crowd favorite known by heart by many who like to sing along at shows, "My Anxious Brain & My Broken Heart" and its coinciding music video, followed up recently by "LA" and it's music video, as well.
Not to say she's been standing idly by: she moved to the east coast and has started a queer/allied-backed full band for the project and has been in the studio for a year. Oh, and she's also rehearsing, booking. and writing more music. Please send tea (sort of a joke but also not, she's.a huge tea lover!)
"The “queer as folk” Californian artist stuns in their latest single. Anxiety and hope can be mortal enemies, constantly in conflict with one another. “My Anxious Brain & My Broken Heart” is Autumn Sky Hall’s attempt to broker peace between these forces. In this quietly powerful folk song, they methodically work through their emotions, personified by her brain and her heart. “Said my anxious brain/to my broken heart/can’t move forward when you’re on your guard” she sings. Autumn’s vocals are the centerpiece of their work, carefully modulated but infinitely expressive. They are supported by subdued background singers, soft guitars and percussion that is as delicate as a feather. Autumn’s music displays a stunning clarity of thought and musical talent in this introspective single."

“AUTUMN SKY HALL’s single “I Woke Up” is beautiful. Monster song” - Forever Goldrush listing their favorite tunes from 2022 in the April issue
"Autumn Sky Hall is an amazing and astounding - and young - folk/Americana singer/songwriter hailing from Sacramento, CA, complete with an enchanting & versatile voice, dancing guitar fingers, and emotionally compelling lyrics. Autumn pours her inner experience and growth through her songs so that to hear her is to know her and the human condition better."

"Continuing on the trend of impactful EPs, California folk veteran Otto/Autumn Sky Hall gives us a taste of the Americana album she’s been crowdfunding for on While We’re Here. The two-song EP is a love letter to California as she decamps to the East Coast. "And I Knew” is richly layered, a nod to Hall’s interest in indie pop hooks. There’s plenty of twang to love here, but the song’s bones are driving and exciting. By contrast, “Do You Believe?” is more of a classic folk song, showcasing Hall’s convictions that a better, just world is possible — and it’s right around the corner. With Hall’s rich voice and warm approach, it’s easy to believe."

"Spacewalker will be working for the first time with two of the headliners at the show but is excited to collaborate with Autumn Hall again — a performer she described as a celestial being. Hall was one of the earliest figures who inspired Spacewalker to pursue a career as a performer, showing how to really bring it in front of a crowd.
“It was just like, ‘Yo, look at this angel!’ Spacewalker recalled. “I was freaking out. Just the vocals, the stage presence and they seem so comfortable. They definitely inspired me to just really hone-in my creativity.”" - Casey Rafter
"I have known Autumn Sky Hall for many years and have always admired her inner strength, talent, and her voice in our Sacramento music community. As a 12 year veteran of the music scene in Northern California and Hall of Fame inductee in the Sacramento Music Awards (SAMMIES), Hall is the only solo female act to ever be honored with the induction to the Hall of Fame (having received six awards total, including three Artist of the Year awards, back to back in the three years prior.). By age 23, she had played over 500 gigs which includes opening for Bauhaus front man Peter Murphy, Heart at BottleRock Festival, and TBD Fest. Hall had a knack for marketing and promotion; brainstorming new ways to reach fans and utilizing every available avenue. Not only an accomplished singer and songwriter, Hall is also skilled in playing the acoustic guitar, piano, classical violin, auto harp, and the ukulele."

"Autumn Sky Hall’s “My Anxious Brain & My Broken Heart” has been on Mustard’s plug for some time. While Mustard lacks human emotions this song evokes those from them. Their bottle resists due to engineering but Hall’s single is so stunning and haunting that wall breaks itself down voluntarily. The music video that accompanies the song provides a captivating visual."

"I've always been drawn to musicians. I'm not sure if it's due to my intense stage fright or my deep appreciation for the the perfect lyric, but I've always held those who write, compose and perform music in high regard. Autumn Sky Hall grabbed my attention several years ago and has always struck me as one to watch. She kindly joined me at ThinkHouse yesterday to chat about her creative journey and where she sees her music career heading in the years to come."

"Twenty-year-old Autumn Sky is the perennially kindhearted artist...on the brink of breaking through with her syrupy ballads, poppy rockers and seasoned showmanship. Every city needs an indie-darling chanteuse with a bright future, and Sky’s horizon is vast." - Cosmo Garvin
"The Sac 100"
"(Autumn Sky's) voice is on par with Joanna Newsom's poetic warble, Chan Marshall without the baggage and Jolie Holland without the Vaudevillian rain clouds. The versatility of her melodies, lyrics and talent transcend calculated gimmicks."- Andy King
"Ruling the Alternative Indie Rock genre in Sacramento is Autumn Sky. In the two years that Autumn Sky has been a band with its current lineup, the group has been everywhere locally."
